Barry is a self-confessed hockey tragic with a very supportive wife.

He is currently coaching Sydney PL1 and has spent the last two decades doing so at NWS and UNSW.

During the period of 1998 - 2014, Barry coached NSW AHL, Under 21's and Under 18's. He also coached the Australian Schoolboys between 2000 - 2018 touring with them to Europe, South Africa and China.

He played club and masters hockey until his late 40s.
